The father of late TV presenter Mark Speight has launched a foundation to promote children's artistic abilities.

The SMart host committed suicide in April following the loss of girlfriend Natasha Collins to a drugs overdose. His body was found at Paddington Station in London.

His dad Oliver has set up the Speight Of The Art Foundation to enable children to "express themselves in a positive way through art".

"This charity will reach children across the UK who will discover their own hidden talents. This will be Mark's legacy to each and every one of them," he told the Press Association.

An annual competition will be run to find the UK's Young Artist Of The Year. The foundation's ultimate aim is to award young people scholarships to progress their art.
