Ross, Brand nominated for comedy awards

Jonathan Ross has been nominated for a British Comedy Award just two weeks after he pulled out of hosting the ceremony over the Andrew Sachs row.

Ross, 47, decided to step down from the event in agreement with ITV after his 12-week suspension from the BBC for making lewd prank calls to the Fawlty Towers star with Russell Brand.

Brand, 33, who resigned from his BBC Radio 2 show over the controversy, is also up for a gong for Best Live Stand-Up Performer.

Ross has been nominated for Best Comedy Entertainment Programme for Friday Night With Jonathan Ross. A new host for the December 6 ceremony has yet to be announced.
