Mayer to host US variety show?

John Mayer is reportedly in discussions to front a new variety show in the US.

Bosses at the CBS network would like the singer to host the programme, which would feature music, variety and sketch performances, in early 2009.

The show will be produced by the star alongside Grammy and Emmy official Ken Ehrlich, according to TMZ, the website on which Mayer recently hosted an internet TV broadcast.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Mayer has got back together with former Friends actress Jennifer Aniston.
