John Stamos 'ready to be a father'

John Stamos has revealed that he is ready to tackle fatherhood.

The ER star, 45, said he had put starting a family on hold until he met the right woman.

He claimed that having a child with ex-wife Rebecca Romijn would have been "a bad idea", telling Extra: "I didn't want to have a child with the wrong person. I'd like my kid to grow up the way I did, having a mother and a father."

Stamos, who is dating model Leah Marsh, added that he would consider adopting a child.

"I've been talking about it for a while. I'm ready to have kids. If it doesn't work out the other way, I would go to Project Cuddle, a charity I'm involved with that helps young women who are considering abandoning their babies," he said.
