Locklear handed drug driving charge

Actress Heather Locklear has been charged with driving under the influence of prescription drugs.

The Melrose Place star was arrested in September after being witnessed "driving erratically" while exiting a car park in Montecito, California.

A toxicology report released by Santa Barbara County showed that the 47-year-old had prescription medication in her system, but no traces of alcohol or illegal drugs.

Senior deputy district attorney Lee Carter has charged her with a misdemeanour.

Locklear, who rose to fame in '80s soap opera Dynasty, recently underwent treatment for depression following the break-up of her marriage to Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora.
