The booming cry of "Gordon's alive!" in 1980s classic cult movie Flash Gordon may be Brian Blessed's most famous moment, but the larger-than-life thespian has plenty more strings to his bow than comic turns in sci-fi epics. The 71-year-old Yorkshireman has wowed TV and theatre audiences for nearly 50 years and is also a seasoned adventurer, who is credited as the oldest man to to walk to the North Pole.
Blessed's TV highlights include turns in Doctor Who, The Sweeney, Minder and as PC 'Fancy' Smith in Z Cars. Never afraid to let his hair down, the rotund funnyman has also guested on Have I Got News For You, Stars In Their Eyes, The Underdog Show and braved ITV chat show Loose Women.
