Estelle has revealed that she moved to America after growing frustrated with constant early morning calls from her record label.

The 'American Boy' singer, who signed to John Legend's Homeschool Records in 2007, said she was repeatedly receiving calls in the middle of the night due to the different time zones.

She eventually relocated to New York after months of travelling between London and the Big Apple.

"They just kept calling me at dumb times at night, like, four in the morning... I was like, 'You know what, let me just go there," Contact Music quotes her as saying.

"It was kind of a waste of my time, flying back and forth, as well as a waste of money."

Estelle recently had braces fitted in case she wins a Grammy in 2009.
