Sienna Miller has won £53,000 in damages from the Big Pictures UK photographic agency.

The actress had sued the firm, claiming that pictures published of her in buildings not open to the public were part of an "intolerable" campaign by photographers. Big Pictures will pay Miller £37,000 in damages and £16,000 in legal costs.

The ruling also states that the agency can no longer camp outside the 26-year-old's home, but will not protect her from being photographed leaving bars, restaurants or public footpaths or highways.

Miller's lawyer Mark Thomson said of the decision: "It's not a binding court ruling but it may well encourage other celebrities and those followed in such a way to take action. We hope that people will back off my client as a result of this."

Miller recently accepted £35,000 in damages from The Sun and News Of The World for publishing "intrusive articles and photos" over the summer.
