Kylie opens 'world's costliest resort'

Kylie entertained a host of A-list celebrities at the official opening of a £1 billion resort in Dubai last night.

The Atlantis Palm Jumeirah opening party, which was rumoured to have cost more than £20 million, attracted 2,000 celebrities and entrepreneurs.

The 40-year-old popstar was backed by a 113-strong dance troupe as she performed a 45-minute set which included ten of her hits.

A £7million firework display which could apparently be seen from space followed her appearance.

The singer told Sky News that she was "staggered" by the resort, but remained tight-lipped about her rumoured £1.5 million paycheque.

"I can't tell you how much pocket money I get, it goes straight in my piggy bank," she said.

Robert De Niro, Charlize Theron, Denzel Washington, Mischa Barton, Lindsay Lohan, Janet Jackson, Lily Allen and Shirley Bassey were among those in Dubai for the opening.

Fellow guest Richard Branson said: "This party was obviously planned before the recession took hold three months ago. This will be the party of the decade and it'll be the last party of the decade probably."
