Indie singer denies BNP membership

Little Man Tate singer Jon Windle has denied being a member of the British National Party (BNP).

The indie star was forced to issue a statement after a list of members of the far-right party was leaked in the press last week.

Speculation began when a 'Jon Windle' from Sheffield was included among the BNP's supporters. Sheffield is also the singer's home city.

"We would like to assure their fans that the Jon Windle that has appeared on the leaked list of BNP members is not the band's vocalist. Jon has never associated himself with the BNP in any form," the band said in a statement.

Music newspaper NME has also independently verified that Windle is not the person referred to on the list.
