'Mariah - The Musical' on the cards?

Mariah Carey is in talks to turn her life story into a Broadway musical, according to reports.

A musical producer wants the story of her rise to fame to be written into a script and the singer is said to be excited by the idea, reports the Daily Express.

"A huge, huge Broadway producer is interested in Mariah's story and it's in discussions," said a source.

"Who would turn down an opportunity like that? Mariah has had a fascinating life."

The show would cover Carey's marriage and divorce with music executive Tommy Mottola, rumours of a nervous breakdown, her reputation as a diva and her recent romance with husband Nick Cannon.

Carey was honoured at last weekend's American Music Awards for her record-breaking career and contribution to music.
