Barton's parents 'didn't get Thanksgiving'

Mischa Barton has revealed that her parents didn't celebrate Thanksgiving when they first moved to the US.

The actress, whose mother is Irish and father is English, told Celebuzz that the holiday gradually became a family tradition as she grew up in New York.

"My parents didn't understand you have to cook a turkey. But finally we're coming into our own with Thanksgiving. I have tons to be thankful for this year."

The former OC star described Thanksgiving as "one of my favourite holidays".
