Brandy: 'I lied about wedding'

Brandy has confessed that she did not get married to boyfriend Robert Smith in 2002.

The singer said that she lied about her wedding to Smith because she was worried about what other people would think of her having a child out of wedlock. She gave birth to daughter Sy'rai four months after the alleged union.

"I lied because of the fear of what people would think and the pressure to be a good role model," she told Us Weekly.

"Our relationship was very real, we just weren't legally married."

However, Brandy split up from Smith 12 months after Sy'rai's birth.
