Chris Martin: 'I'm a kitchen disaster'

Chris Martin's attempts to cook for his family have twice alerted the fire brigade.

Martin revealed that his fire alarm is connected to the nearest fire station, and that fire officials have rushed to his house on two occasions because he forgot to turn on his kitchen vent.

"So the fire engine comes around, and I was in a panic. I said: "Guys, I'm sorry. There's no fire'," he told The Times.

"Then, two months later, I said: 'Right, I'm gonna have another crack at this', and the same thing happened. Just as I'm running outside, the fire engine pulls up and the fireman says: 'Have you been cooking again, Chris?'"

The incident left Martin feeling shaky, so he decided to go for a walk. Luckily, he added, the firemen were going the same way.

He said: "There are good days and not so good days, you know? But, the thing is, I got to have a ride in a fire engine! How cool is that?"
