Tina Fey has revealed that she got her distinctive facial scar after being attacked by a stranger at the age of five.

The actress was playing in her front yard when an unknown person entered her front yard and slashed the side of her face.

The 30 Rock star told Vanity Fair that the experience hadn't hindered her until she started acting: "I proceeded unaware of it," she said. "I was a very confident little kid. It's really almost like I'm kind of able to forget about it, until I was on camera."

Fey claimed that her daughter may inadvertently cause her to have a breakdown. "Supposedly, I will go crazy," she told the publication. "My therapist says, 'When Alice is the age that you were, you may go crazy."

Tina Fey gained widespread publicity during the American presidential elections due to her satirical sketches as failed Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin. The party later blamed her for a downturn in their fortune at the polls.
