A former hospital worker has pleaded guilty to selling the medical files of celebrities including Britney Spears and Farah Fawcett.

Lawanda Jackson, 49, received at least $4,600 (£3,000) from the National Enquirer for the UCLA Medical Centre records, reports The AP.

Prosecutors said Jackson worked at the hospital for 32 years, but only recently started selling the files. Cheques from the newspaper allegedly started appearing in her husband's bank account in 2006.

Jackson, who is due for sentencing in May, faces up to ten years in prison and a $250,000 (£165,000) fine.
