Marlon Brando battled the eating disorder bulimia for the majority of his adult life, it has been claimed.

The legendary Godfather actor struggled with the condition throughout the height of his success, according to a new book about the star.

Brando's long-time personal assistant Alice Marchak penned the book Me And Marlon about her time working closely with the Oscar winner.

"We'd eat dinner and then Marlon would go to the bathroom - and come back and order another meal," she wrote.

Despite his physical structure, the actor regularly vomited secretly after gorging on large portions of food. Marchak discovered his bulimia after finding him passed out in the bathroom.

The film legend died in 2004 at the age of 80.
