The former sportsman was convicted on October 12 of armed robbery, conspiracy to kidnap, and assault with a deadly weapon.
Simpson denied the charges of kidnapping and robbing two sports memorabilia dealers in Las Vegas in September 2007.
A Las Vegas jury found Simpson and an accomplice, Clarence Stewart, guilty on all charges.
The star could spend the rest of his life behind bars, however his lawyer told the BBC he was optimistic for a less severe sentence: "Best-case scenario we're hoping for is six years," he said.
"That's the bottom-end number before being eligible for parole."
