Pinkett Smith: 'Family put me off drugs'

Rex Features

Jada Pinkett Smith has revealed that she has never wanted to experiment with drugs after seeing her family deal with addictions.

The actress claimed that watching her mother and aunt struggle with substance abuse has put her off trying narcotics herself.

"I saw my aunt and mother go through addiction, and how they went in and out of rehab. It affected me a lot," she said.

Pinkett Smith recently lent her voice to animated movie Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, in which she plays Gloria The Hippo.
