Anne Hathaway date sells for £8,000

A date with Anne Hathaway sold for $12,000 (£8,000) at a Los Angeles charity auction on Sunday night.

The Rachel Getting Married star was hosting the 11th annual Cracked Xmas fundraiser when she surprised guests by offering a night on the town with herself.

She said: "I'm not usually very forward, but I thought if there was ever a crowd for me to do something like this, this is my crowd - so I would like to auction myself off."

Three friends clubbed together to secure an evening with the Hollywood actress in aid of the Trevor Project, a crisis helpine for LGBT youth.

The 26-year-old admitted that she was "blushing" as her price went up, later claiming that she felt "really good right now".
