Braxton has benign tumour removed

Toni Braxton has revealed that she had a benign tumour removed from her breast last month.

The singer told US Weekly that doctors discovered the lump during a routine check-up in August but assured her that she could still compete in this year's Dancing With The Stars competition.

However, Braxton admitted that her elimination from the show was for the best.

"Getting the boot on the show was actually a blessing in disguise for me," she said. "My grandmother on my dad's side died of breast cancer, and I have aunts on both sides that have breast cancer.

"I was worried about what they would find, but it was benign."

She added: "I was very fortunate. Cancer knows no race, no creed, no colour."
