Sandler: 'Brand sorry for prank calls'

Rex Features

Adam Sandler has offered his support to Russell Brand after the comedian's prank call scandal earlier this year.

Brand resigned from his BBC Radio 2 show following phone calls he and Jonathan Ross made to Fawlty Towers actor Andrew Sachs.

At last night's London premiere of Disney's Bedtime Stories, Sandler insisted that his co-star is "sorry" and "regretful" about the incident.

"He isn't happy and he is regretful and looking forward to moving on," said Sandler. "I didn't hear the tape. I think a lot of comedians are trying to make people laugh all the time and sometimes you're in a place where you hurt people.

"But he is a good man. He is sorry too. You've got to move on."

Brand made his first public appearance in the UK since the scandal at the premiere but refused to speak to waiting reporters.
