Robbie Williams has reportedly bought a £7 million mansion in the heart of crop circle country.

The singer has snapped up an 18th century estate just yards from a pub which hosts annual crop circle followers, claims Metro.

Tara Adams, landlady of the White Horse, said: "It is village gossip and I haven't heard it from the horse's mouth. But the property has been sold.

"Robbie Williams will be made very welcome here. I think he's lovely and very talented."

She added: "The village is a little gem, with beautiful surroundings and really lovely people. There are lots of wealthy people here, but it is very discreet and not talked about. He would be treated normally here."

Each summer, the White Horse becomes a research centre for crop circle followers throughout the world.

Williams previously claimed that he was visited by an alien at his recording studio.

The popstar's spokesperson Lesley Land refused to comment on the claims.
