Gyllenhaal, Sarsgaard to star in 'Vanya'

Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard have signed up to appear in Off Broadway play Uncle Vanya.

The Hollywood couple, who have a two-year-old daughter, have joined the cast of the Chekhov play, which will run at the Classic Stage Company theatre in New York from January 17 until March 1.

Secretary actress Gyllenhaal will play the part of Yelena, while Sarsgaard will portray Dr Astrov. Austin Pendleton, who previously helmed 50 Words, will direct.

Other cast members include Denis O'Hare in the title role, George Morfogen and Mamie Gummer.
