Tara Reid checks into rehab

Tara Reid has entered rehab, having apparently made the decision to get help at the start of this week.

A representative for the American Pie actress told People that she has entered the Promises Treatment Centre in Malibu, California.

"We appreciate your respect to her and her family's privacy at this time," the rep said, declining to reveal what Reid is being treated for.

A friend said: "Her friends and family are supportive of her decision. She checked in herself - it was her decision."

Earlier this year, Reid spoke out about the media's scrutiny of her private life and her portrayal as a "party girl". She said at the time: "What have I ever really done? Dance on a table? Who doesn't drink with their friends and have a good time? I don't understand why people punish others for being happy."
