Streep rules out award campaigning

Meryl Streep has decided that she will not be campaigning for big awards this year, branding the practice "unseemly".

The Oscar-winning actress has been nominated for a number of high-profile gongs for her roles in Doubt and Mamma Mia, but WENN reports that she will not be handing out cash for magazine and billboard space.

She said: "I hate the campaigning thing. It's unseemly. You should be honoured for something. It shouldn't be for who's campaign was better."

The 59-year-old recently revealed that she will sign up for a sequel to Mamma Mia if the male cast of "fabulous boys" returns.
