Brand reveals gold paint discomfort

Russell Brand has confessed that being painted gold for a movie role left him looking ridiculous.

The actor was covered head-to-toe in makeup for a scene in Bedtime Stories in which he plays a robot.

"They were very diligent and assiduous in their makeup job, painting even the inside of my mouth golden, in spite of what we learned from the film Goldfinger that being covered in gold paint can lead to death," he said.

"I went for a wee and my genitals looked ridiculous, this pink organic object emerging from C-3PO."

Brand added that he would often frighten himself when he caught his reflection, saying: "I just sat and watched Mike Leigh films in my trailer then I would just forget what I was doing because I'd be well into Secrets & Lies, then I'd see myself in the mirror and be like 'Argh, I'm a golden robot!'"
