The Hollywood couple - who have six children - relocated to the country shortly before the birth of their twins in July to avoid the constant paparazzi attention they received in the U.S.
"It's good living there, a really nice way of life," Pitt told Hello. "It's a place where the kids can run free and not be hassled. We have a good relationship with the locals, and it's a good base for the family."
The actor, who is currently filming Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds in Berlin, said the family needed a break from their hectic travelling schedule.
"I've been dragging them all from continent to continent lately," he said. "So we're going to have to give them a break soon. For the long term, right now, we're choosing France."
Pitt also admitted that he and Jolie are considering the possibility of extending their family.
"We've always said that we'll carry on until we find a reason to stop doing this," he said. "We haven't found that reason yet."
