Leona named PETA Person Of The Year

Leona Lewis has been named PETA's Person Of The Year 2008.

The Forgive Me singer was awarded the title in honour of her conscious efforts to avoid buying animal products.

The star has publicly backed the animal welfare group's work and earlier this year was named Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity Alive by the organisation's members.

"Leona Lewis is admired for her beautiful voice, but it's her kindness to animals that makes her a superstar in our book," said PETA's Europe Director Robbie LeBlanc.

In October it was reported that the singer turned down a £1 million deal to open the Harrods sale because the store stocks fur products.
