Jackson illness 'a total fabrication'

Michael Jackson's spokesman has released a statement dismissing claims that the popstar is in need of a life-saving lung transplant.

Tabloid reports quoting Jackson biographer Ian Halperin alleged that the 50-year-old is suffering from alpha-1 anti-trypsin deficiency, a lung condition that has resulted in emphysema and internal bleeding.

Dr. Tohme Tohme, Jackson's "official and sole spokesperson", released a statement saying that the singer is in "fine health" and planning a world tour.

"The writer's wild allegations concerning Mr. Jackson's health are a total fabrication," the statement said. "Mr. Jackson is in fine health and finalising negotiations with a major entertainment company and television network for both a world tour and a series of specials and appearances."
