David Blaine has raised money for a charity coat drive by braving the New York winter wearing a T-shirt.

The illusionist took part in the New York Cares initiative at Manhattan's Bryant Park. He encouraged those in attendance to donate spare jackets to people in need and autographed playing cards for fans.

"If you really want to understand why the Coat Drive is important, try standing outside for an hour without a coat," he told Page Six.

Blaine allegedly declined to perform magic tricks for the gathered crowds, claiming that his hands were too cold.

One of the 35-year-old's previous stunts, called Frozen In Time, involved him being encased in a block of ice for nearly 65 hours.
