Moby has revealed that he originally wanted to be a scientist.

The musician considered various career options when growing up before being inspired by The Sex Pistols to make music.

"Up until I was 13, I wanted to be a scientist. Any type of scientist would have been good," he told Bang Showbiz.

"After 13, I really wanted to be a guitar player. I saw a Sid Vicious video and it scared me so much I decided to form a punk rock band."

Moby began studying classical guitar when he was a teenager before learning to play the piano and drums. His fifth album Play went on to sell ten million copies worldwide.

The dance star added that he wishes he had written '70s disco classic 'I Feel Love'.

"I adore that Donna Summer song. It is just so simple but also remarkable. It somehow manages to be platonic and dirty at the same time," he said.
