Elton John demands helipad for O2 gig

Sir Elton John has reportedly demanded a helipad for his New Year's Eve show at the O2 arena, The Mirror reports.

Other acts performing at the bash, including Alexandra Burke and Will Young, will arrive at the gig by private boat on the River Thames.

The concert will be broadcast in the US and screened on New Year's Eve in Times Square, New York.

A source said: "It's going to be the biggest, most spectacular New Year's Eve party in the world.

"The fact that it's being picked up across US networks is a massive deal - it means his audience is going to be in the millions.

"Elton hasn't requested anything outrageous, all he's asked for is a helipad... he simply wasn't up for getting the Tube."
