Aniston, Mayer split rumours return

American gossip columns are speculating that Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer have split for the second time.

The pair, who rekindled their romance in October, spent Christmas apart, sparking rumours that their relationship may have hit the rocks.

Page Six also alleged that the pair's public displays of affection in the build up to Christmas were used to publicise Aniston's new movie Marley And Me.

"Aniston toted Mayer around through all her promotional gigs to deter interviewers from focusing on her single status," said the column.

Aniston returned to her LA home on December 20, while Mayer remained in New York. The actress spent Christmas Eve with close friends Courteney Cox and David Arquette.

Earlier this month, Aniston opened up for the first time about her rock star boyfriend, describing him as "extraordinary".
