Jimmy Osmond has called for a helpline to support rejects from TV reality shows such as The X Factor.
The 45-year-old, who shot to fame as the youngest member of The Osmonds, said that show bosses need to look after vulnerable contestants.
"It's really hard when you don't make it. It's dangerous to their lives," he told The People. "We need a support group for all the kids that made it so far and then are no longer."
However, the singer praised the concept of reality shows, saying: "[They are] great because kids who would never have an opportunity get exposure."
Osmond is currently apppearing in pantomine in Northampton, playing Buttons in Cinderella at the Derngate Theatre.
