Diddy offers free New Year's taxi rides

P. Diddy has announced that he will give away thousands of free taxi rides in New York on New Year's Eve.

The rapper - real name Sean Combs - revealed that he wants New Yorkers to enjoy their celebrations.

"New York is the world's most iconic New Year's Eve city, so let's lead by example and show everyone that a sophisticated holiday celebration doesn't just end when the ball drops, but when everyone gets home safely," he told the New York Daily News.

Combs will team up with Ciroc premium vodka and New York's Taxi & Limousine Commission to provide thousands of $15 (£10) vouchers that can be redeemed for single taxi rides.

The vouchers will be handed out by street teams in Times Square from 11pm tonight until 3am on New Year's Day, or until the supply runs out.
