Oprah donates £243,000 to school

Oprah Winfrey has donated £243,000 to a school which educates low-income children.

The chatshow queen handed over the amount to the Ron Clark Academy, which attempts to teach kids though the creative arts.

Headteacher Ron Clark, who relies on donations in order to keep the school open, revealed his delight at the gift. "We teach school all day and fundraise at night. To have an unsolicited gift come like that is incredible," he said.

Winfrey praised Clark in a letter she included with the cheque, hailing the "profound difference you're making with your passion for teaching".
