Apology issued over hacked Spears blog

Britney Spears's Twitter blog has issued an apology to fans after it was hacked on Monday.

The singer was targeted when a hacker wrote a fake message on her blog.

"Our Twitter account was hacked this morning," reads the apology message.

"We apologise for any offence caused to Britney's fans and our readers. Everything is sorted out and there should be nothing but great Britney-related news from now on. Thank you for your understanding."

Barack Obama and US political commentator Bill O'Reilly are both thought to have been targeted by the same hacker in the past.

Spears recently topped a list of the most searched-for celebrities on the internet.
