Ryan O'Neal ordered into rehab

Actor Ryan O'Neal has been ordered to attend an 18-month drug rehabilitation programme after pleading guilty to possession.

The 67-year-old was charged by California police, along with his son Redmond, after methamphetamine was found at their Malibu home in September.

Redmond, O'Neal's son with actress Farrah Fawcett, pleaded guilty to possessing the drug as well as heroin and driving under the influence and was put on probation for three years.

Ryan O'Neal, best known for his Oscar nomination for Love Story, must return to court on July 10 for a progress report.
