R&B singer Jill Scott pregnant

Jill Scott has announced that she is expecting her first child with fiancé Jon Roberts.

The 36-year-old R&B singer, who got engaged to Roberts in June, is due to give birth in April. Scott said she made the discovery before heading to Africa to film new BBC series The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency.

Scott added that production of the show was made more difficult by her condition. "The first trimester I spent in Botswana. That was one of the biggest challenges of my life," she said.

"First trimester! You're sick every morning. It was seven hours time difference, the heat, the bugs, the 14-hour days. My doctors gave me a clean bill of health and said you can [continue working], so I did it."
