Burke, who is a big fan of the American R&B star, had requested that her label Sony arrange for her to meet the singer at his recent London O2 arena gig.
The 20-year-old watched the concert with her siblings David, Aaron and Sheneice in a VIP box, according to The Mirror.
However, she was apparently turned away from the official afterparty because Rihanna found out about the reality TV winner's crush on her boyfriend.
"Alex was mortified," said a source. "She had no idea she had been banned from meeting her idol.
"She's a massive fan of Chris Brown - she said numerous times on The X Factor how much she fancies him and wants to meet him.
"Poor Alex was so excited about hooking up with Chris that she was even thinking of entering a competition on Choice FM radio to meet him."
