Sacha Baron Cohen was booed at last night's Golden Globes after making a series of digs at fellow stars.

The Borat actor was on stage to present Woody Allen's Vicky Cristina Barcelona with the award for best film comedy.

However, before handing over the honour, the 36-year-old comedian drew boos when he made a series of jokes about how the recession was affecting Hollywood.

"This recession is affecting everyone, even celebrities," he told the star-studded audience. "Victoria Beckham hasn’t eaten for three weeks. Charlie Sheen has been forced to have sex without paying for it. It’s true.

"And even Madonna has had to get rid of one of her personal assistants. Our thoughts go out to you Guy Ritchie."

Madonna and Sherlock Holmes director Ritchie divorced last year after more than seven years of marriage.

Last week Cohen was criticised for including a black character named Jesus in his upcoming film Bruno, which also mocks Madonna's adoption of Malawian David Banda.
