Katona pays £3K for Gest dinner date

Kerry Katona has reportedly paid £3,200 to have dinner with David Gest - despite being friends with the star.

The former pop singer decided to part with the cash when she attended a charity auction at Liverpool's Adelphi Hotel on Friday night, according to The Mirror.

After securing the date with Gest, Katona was heard telling her husband Mark Croft: "I've just paid over three grand for something and I don't know what it is."

A source told the newspaper: "Kerry was pretty worse for wear. Goodness knows where she'll find the money."

Katona, who is known to be a close friend of Gest, was declared bankrupt by the High Court last year.

Reports have claimed that the 28-year-old was also spotted "slurring and staggering" at Friday's party.
