Newton-John sends support to 'Danny'

Olivia Newton-John has sent a message of support to an actor stepping into the role of Danny in Grease.

The actress, who starred in the 1978 Grease movie, gave her best wishes to 18-year-old Joe Wilson, who is performing in a Cambridge amateur stage production of the musical.

Wilson's father Charles, a breast cancer specialist at a cancer care centre Newton-John was visiting, asked her to send a message to his son. "Dear Joe, Good Luck as Danny! Love Olivia Newton-John (ex) Sandy", she wrote.

The Australian, who beat cancer in 2002, last year revealed that she offered support to Kylie Minogue when she was diagnosed with the disease.
