Zhang Ziyi photos cause scandal in China

Actress Zhang Ziyi has caused outrage in her native China after being photographed topless.

The Memoirs Of A Geisha star was snapped sunbathing on a beach in the Caribbean wearing only bikini bottoms. The 29-year-old was with her Israeli fiancé Vivi Nevo at the time.

Chinese authorities removed the holiday pictures from many sites and censored them in print publications. Web forum users have been fiercely critical of Zhang, with one describing her as "shameless".

"Zhang Ziyi is really shameless," the critic wrote. "She is with a foreigner, but should remember certain conduct is expected of Chinese women."
