Glitter drops sex register appeal

Gary Glitter has reportedly dropped an appeal against being forced to sign the sex offenders' register.

The convicted paedophile, real name Paul Gadd, was placed on the register when he returned to the UK from Vietnam, where he was imprisoned for abusing two young girls.

According to PA, a spokesman for Harrow Crown Court said Glitter's solicitor withdrew the appeal by letter, claiming that the singer was convinced he would not get a fair trial due to media attention.

His name will now remain on the register for life and he will be forced to tell police if he moves house, stays somewhere else for seven days, or intends to travel abroad for three days or more.
