According to The Sun, the footballer-turned-actor believes that he can make Gascoigne connect with nature on the island by hunting animals and doing "man's work". Jones allegedly wants to document the experience with a video camera.
A source said: "Vinnie thinks it's terrible what Gazza has been going through and is convinced some tough love is needed. Vinnie loves hunting and fishing and reckons it does more to aid the soul than things like rehab.
"Gazza is a man's man so it should be up his street. It will be a bit like a cross between Castaway and Lost with lots of survival tactics. With Vinnie and Gazza together it will be full of surprises."
Gascoigne recently hit out at Channel 4 for interviewing his 12-year-old son, Regan, about his alcoholism for a Cutting Edge special.
