Gazza says he is beating addictions

Paul Gascoigne has revealed that his love for his children is pushing him towards sobriety.

The former soccer ace has spent nearly three weeks in rehab at the Tony Adams Sporting Chance clinic in an attempt to beat his addictions.

According to The Sun, the former England star told a guest at the centre, Daryl Punnett, that he "feels great".

"I am determined not to let this beat me. Right now I am in the best place I have been for a very long time. There is still a long way to go but I feel I'm back and on the mend," Gascoigne told Punnett.

Speaking of his three children, he added: "They mean the Earth to me and that's what's spurring me on. I'm so proud of them and I want them to feel the same way about me."

Footballer-turner-actor Vinnie Jones revealed earlier this week that he wants to help Gascoigne by using "tough love". Jones believes that he can make the 41-year-old connect with nature by taking him to a deserted island to fend for himself.
