Pair held over Travolta blackmail plot

A senator and a paramedic are reportedly being held in connection with an alleged plot to blackmail John Travolta.

Police confirmed that investigations were underway after reports surfaced that the actor was victim to an extortion attempt over a photograph that was taken of his dying son Jett.

The 16-year-old died at the family's Bahamas home on January 2 after suffering a seizure.

According to PA, ambulance driver Tarino Lightbourne is one of the people helping police with their inquiries. Senator Pleasant Bridgewater, a lawyer from Grand Bahama, is also being held for questioning.

Authorities have not revealed what the alleged blackmail involved, and a publicist for Travolta said that neither the actor nor his wife Kelly Preston wished to comment.
