Pitt: 'Publicity machine out of control'

Brad Pitt has revealed that he feels for people entering the movie industry because the Hollywood publicity machine has run "out of control".

The actor told Newsweek magazine that he has never been able to "make his peace" with the promotional side of the industry.

"It's everything we didn't sign up for. There's this whole other entity that you get sucked into. You have to go and sell your wares," he said.

"It's something I never made my peace with. Somehow you're not supporting your film if you don't get out on a show and talk about your personal life. It has nothing to do with why I do this. I feel for the people who are just getting into the business. It sets the wrong focus."

Pitt's latest film, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, received 13 nominations at the 81st Academy Awards. The 45-year-old revealed that he and his partner, Angelina Jolie, would not be celebrating their Oscar nods as they are too busy with their family.
